UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University volleyball team is set to participate in the 2016 Mizuno Midwest Region Volleyball Crossover Tournament this upcoming weekend. The tournament, in its ninth season, is set to take place at the Great Lakes Center in Aurora, Illinois, Oct. 14-15.

The Cardinals (9-8, 5-4 GLIAC) enter as the no. 6 seed in the GLIAC for the weekend. SVSU is slated to play three games, with one on Friday (Oct. 14) and another pair of contests on Saturday. Saginaw Valley has rattled-off three consecutive five-set wins leading up to the trip down to the suburb of Chicago and will square-off against GLVC no. 5 seed Missouri-St. Louis, GMAC team Cedarville, which was seeded no. 7 GLVC, and GLVC no. 2 seed McKendree.

Over the eight-year span of the tournament's existence, SV has posted an overall record of 15-9, including going a perfect 3-0 in the event during the 2010 and 2013 seasons. Last year, the Cardinals went 2-1, defeating Drury and Ohio Valley but falling at the hands of McKendree.
