2016 NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Tournament Information

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - The SVSU volleyball team qualified for the 2016 NCAA Division II Tournament as the No. 7 seed in the Midwest Region and will face No. 2 seed Rockhurst University on Thursday, December 3 at noon at Ferris State University's Jim Wink Arena.

Tickets are on sale and will be $5 for adults and $2 for children in grades K-12 or $3 for college students of the competing teams with a valid ID card. The prices are based per day. Tickets can be purchased in advance at StarTickets.com, by calling 1-800-585-3737 or in person at the Ewigleben Sports Complex. For additional ticket details, please call (231) 591-2888.

The Cardinals (22-8) are making their first appearance in the national postseason tournament since the 2011 season, when SVSU met Ferris State in the opening round. It marks SVSU's fourth time qualifying for the national tourney, all since the 2008 season. The 2008 campaign saw the Cards advance to the NCAA Round of 16.

The Division II Women's Volleyball Committee selected a total of 64 teams to participate in the 2015 Division II Women's Volleyball Championship. Eight teams were selected from each of the following eight regions: Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast and West.

The eight, eight-team regionals will be played at on-campus sites. Regional competition will be single-elimination, best three-of-five-set matches and will not include a third-place match. The winners of each of the eight regionals will advance to the finals, Dec. 10-12, at the Bob Martinez Athletics Center in Tampa, Florida. The University of Tampa and the Tampa Bay Sports Commission will serve as hosts. Competition at the finals site will be single-elimination; best three-of-five-set matches.

Here are the opening round of match-ups for the Midwest Regional Tournament, to be played next Thursday (Dec. 3) in Big Rapids.

12:00 p.m. - #2 Rockhurst (31-3) vs. #7 Saginaw Valley State (22-8)
2:30 p.m. - #3 Lewis (30-4) vs. #6 Grand Valley State (20-11)
5:00 p.m. - #1 Ferris State (31-2) vs. #8 Trevecca Nazarene (20-11)
7:30 p.m. - #4 Findlay (25-8) vs. #5 Hillsdale (23-7)

Friday's (Dec. 4) semifinal matches are scheduled for 5:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. start times.
Note: Ferris State would play the 5 p.m. match on Friday with a win on Thursday. 

Saturday's (Dec. 5) championship is set for a 5:00 p.m. start.
