#18 Lakers Post 3-1 Victory Over Cardinals in GLIAC Matchup

ALLENDALE - The SVSU volleyball team fell on the road to the #18 Grand Valley State University Lakers by a score of 3-1 in a GLIAC match-up on Saturday afternoon.

The first two sets of the match went extra, with the Lakers claiming a 26-24 decision in the first frame. SVSU responded with a 28-26 win in the second set. The Lakers would continue and take the third and fourth sets by scores of 25-17 and 25-19, respectively, to close-out the match. 

Kaylee Schmitt had a team-high 11 kills and Brooke Tiller posted a match-best 28 digs defensively. Morgan Eddy posted seven kills and a team-high five blocks. Kelly Vellucci had 39 assists and was chosen as the Chili's "Player of the Match."

Saginaw Valley is now 8-2 overall and 0-2 in the GLIAC while Grand Valley is now 6-4 and 2-0 in league play. The Cardinals continue on the 12-match road swing to begin the season with a trip through Ohio. SVSU plays at Tiffin on Friday at 7:00 p.m. before facing Ohio Dominican on Saturday in a 5:00 p.m. contest.
