Lexington, Ky. - A pair of Saginaw Valley State University senior volleyball student-athletes were named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Midwest Region Honorable Mention Team by the region's head coaches.
SVSU seniors Makenzie Frodle and Kelsey Ferla both landed on the team, rounding-out their respective careers with another honor. Both were named to the 2014 All-GLIAC First Team while Frodle earned Daktronics All-Midwest Region Second Team and CapitalOne Academic All-District First Team plaudits.
Frodle posted a GLIAC-leading .330 hitting percentage, registering 258 on the season, an average of 2.77 per-set. Frodle added a team-leading 80 blocks, an average of 0.86 per set. Those 80 blocks ranked her ninth in the league.
Ferla racked-up a team-high 295 kills in 2014, leading the GLIAC with an average of 3.64 per set. She chipped-in with 211 digs and 45 blocks to help anchor the SV defense as well.
The Cardinals finished the 2014 campaign with a 17-11 overall record and 12-6 mark in GLIAC play and finished the season with a semifinals appearance in the 2014 GLIAC Tournament.
