Volleyball to Make Weekend Trip to Seventh GLIAC/GLVC Crossover Tournament

The Saginaw Valley State University volleyball team is set to travel to Aurora, Illinois to participate in the seventh annual GLIAC/GLVC Crossover Tournament.  The slate of matches are scheduled for Friday and Saturday at the Great Lakes Center in what is the largest volleyball tournament in the country.

The Cardinals are entering the tournament as the GLIAC's #5 seed, carrying an overall record of 10-6 and a 7-4 mark in league play.  A total of 32 teams are competing in the tournament, 16 from each conference.  

SVSU faces-off against the University of #8 Wisconsin-Parkside in its only match on Friday at 3:30 pm ET.  The team will return to the court on Saturday with a pair of matches, opening the morning with an 11:00 am ET contest with #2 Rockhurst.  The Cards then take a break before closing-out play against sixth-seeded Missouri S&T at 5:00 pm ET.

Saginaw Valley is 12-6 all-time in the Crossover Tournament, including a perfect 3-0 record last year.  The only opponent that SV will face in the tourney that it has faced before in the event is Missouri S&T.  The teams met in last year's event, with SVSU coming out on top with a 3-1 victory.

The Cardinals will return home after the Crossover Tournament to play Lake Superior State on Friday, October 24th in a 7:00 pm match before playing Northwood in a homecoming contest on Saturday at 2:00 pm.
