Saginaw Valley Falls In GLIAC Quarterfinals To GVSU

ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University volleyball team fell in the opening round of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Volleyball Tournament on Wednesday (Nov. 20).

The Cardinals fell at Grand Valley State by a score of 3-0.

The Lakers opened the match by grabbing the first set by a 25-16 score.  GVSU claimed set number two 25-15 before closing-out the match with a 25-16 victory in the third and final set.

Junior Ashley Driscoll led the Cardinals with seven kills while freshman Kaylee Schmitt added four kills.

Senior setter Nicole Adam and freshman setter Kelly Vellucci each had 10 assists and five digs.

Sophomore Brooke Tiller had a team-high nine digs in the contest.  

Saginaw Valley finishes the 2013 season with a 17-13 overall record and the Cardinals finished the league season with an even 9-9 record.  SVSU returns the bulk of its roster for next season, as the team graduates just three seniors from this year's squad.
