Cardinals Fall At Grand Valley

ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University volleyball team fell on the road to #16 Grand Valley State University in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) North Division matchup.

The Cardinals fell in straight sets to the Lakers, 3-0.  GVSU claimed the first two sets by scores of 25-12 and 25-13, respectively, to grab the quick 2-0 lead.  The third set was a bit closer, as SVSU fell in the third and final game by a 25-20 count.

Saginaw Valley was led offensively by Chili's "Player of the Match" Ashley Driscoll, who posted team highs in kills (9) and hitting percentage (.259).

Andrea Brigham added five kills for the Cardinals, who hit just .055 as a team on the night.

Kelly Vellucci had 16 assists and 10 digs for SVSU, which falls to 16-10 overall and 8-7 in the GLIAC.  The Lakers improve to 23-3 overall and 14-1 in league play after the victory.

The Cardinals continue on their weekend road trip against nationally-ranked opponents, as they face #24 Ferris State University Saturday afternoon (Nov. 9) in a 3:00 pm contest.
