Volleyball Sweeps By Walsh, 3-0

NORTH CANTON, Ohio - The Saginaw Valley State University volleyball team extended its winning streak to four games after a 3-0 road sweep over Walsh University Saturday (Oct. 19).

The Cardinals posted a 25-9 win in the opening set to take a 1-0 lead in the match.  In the second game, as SVSU led 19-4, it rattled-off six straight points to close-out with a 25-14 victory and a 2-0 advantage.  Saginaw Valley would keep it rolling in the third set, claiming a 25-16 win to complete the sweep.

Freshman middle hitter Kaylee Schmitt was named the Chili's "Player of the Match" after registering 10 kills on 15 attempts, hitting at a .600 percentage.

Senior Lyndsay Reynolds hit .357 with six kills in the contest.

Junior Kelsey Ferla had a match-high 10 digs to go along with four kills.

Nicole Adam had 14 assists while Kelly Vellucci added 11 against the Cavaliers.

SVSU hit .244 in the match and held Walsh to a -.106 attack percentage.

The victory moves SVSU to 12-7 overall on the season and 7-4 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).  Walsh falls to 4-14 overall and 1-10 in league play after the defeat.

The Cardinals return to action Friday (Oct. 25) when they travel to compete at the GLIAC/GLVC Crossover Challenge.  The tournament is set to take place in Aurora, Ill.
