HOUGHTON, Mich. - Saginaw Valley State's volleyball team competed at Michigan Tech University in the second leg of its GLIAC Upper Peninsula road trip this weekend.

The Cardinals fell in a quick 0-2 hole to the Huskies, losing the first two sets by identical 25-20 scores.  They would then claim the next two frames by scores of 25-23 and 25-22, respectively, to even the match at 2-2.

After taking a 2-1 lead in the fifth set, SVSU couldn't sustain the comback.  The Huskies would claim 14 out of the remaining 20 points scored to close-out the match with a 15-8 final set victory.

Saginaw Valley was led on the offensive end by senior Lyndsay Reynolds (Saline, Mich./Saline HS).  Reynolds claimed Chili's "Player of the Match" honors after recording 12 kills on 29 attacks (.310) along with a pair of blocks defensively.

Junior Ashley Driscoll (Bellevue, Mich./Pennfield HS) had her second-straight solid hitting game for SVSU, registering 10 kills in the contest.  

Senior Nicole Adam (Sterling Heights, Mich./Sterling Heights HS) posted 21 assists and seven digs for the Cardinals while redshirt freshman Kelly Vellucci (Livonia, Mich./Stevenson HS) added 19 helpers and 14 digs.

Sophomore Brooke Tiller (Maumee, Ohio/Maumee HS) had 16 digs while junior Kelsey Ferla (Lincoln Park, Mich./Gabriel Richard HS) added a match-high 17 digs and a team-high 13 kills.

SVSU is back in action this weekend, as it plays its first home matches of the season, beginning when Wayne State visits for a 7:00 pm match on Friday (9/27).
