URBANA, Ohio - The Saginaw Valley State University volleyball team swept its two matches on day one at the Urbana Invitational at the Game Time Sports Center in Urbana, Ohio.  The Cardinals defeated St. Joseph's College (Ind.) and Lake Erie College by identical 3-1 scores to open the tournament.

Against St. Joe's, Saginaw Valley fell in the first, dropping a close set by a score of 27-25.  The Cardinals rallied to claim the next three sets to end the match, 3-1.

In the match with Lake Erie, the Cards grabbed a 2-0 advantage before dropping set number three.  SVSU would then close-out the match with a 25-18 decision in the fourth and final set.

The two victories even SVSU's record at 3-3 overall on the season.  The Cardinals face tournament host Urbana first tomorrow before closing-out tournament play against Bellarmine (Ky.) in their final match of the weekend.  Match times are set for 9:30 am and 11:30 am, respectively.
