Cardinals Drop To Oilers, 3-0

FINDLAY, Ohio - The Saginaw Valley State University volleyball team fell to Findlay University today (Sept. 22) in straight sets, 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-20).The loss drops SVSU to 5-8 on the year and 1-3 in the GLIAC, while Findlay moves to 6-6 overall and 3-2 in the conference.

The Cardinals found themselves in closely-contested battles in each of the two sets, but ended up on the short end of both falling 25-16 and 25-20 to fall two games down early. The Oilers put Saginaw Valley away in the third set with another 25-20 victory for the sweep.

Saginaw Valley was led by Chili's 'Player of the Match' Kelsey Ferla (Lincoln Park, Mich. / Gabriel Richard HS) who recorded a team-high 11 kills on 34 attacks with six digs and three blocks.

Junior Lyndsay Reynolds (Saline, Mich.) chipped in with seven kills on 16 attacks (.375), while freshman libero Brooke Tiller (Maumee, Ohio) posted 12 digs in the loss.

Kate Czopek (Sterling Heights, Mich.) totaled four kills and nine digs on the afternoon as setter Sam Breault (Bad Axe, Mich.) added 21 assists.

The Cardinals will return back home on Tuesday (Sept. 25) when they host the Lake Superior State University Lakers for a 7:00 PM start.
