Twelve Cardinals Earn GLIAC All-Academic Recognition

BAY CITY, Mich. - The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has announced the 2011 Women's Volleyball Academic Teams.  Twelve Cardinals earned All-Academic and All-Excellence honors. Criteria states the student-athlete must be an active member on the roster at the end of the season, not a freshman or a first year transfer student.

Seniors Annie Buxton (Aurora, Ont./Aurora SS), Katie Fitzgerald (Whitby, Ont./Sinclair SS), Laura Ward (White Lake, Mich./Lakeland HS), Jessica Hass (Alanson, Mich./Harbor Light Christian Academy), and Becky Schroeder (Owosso, Mich./Northwood University) along with juniors Megan Jones (Shelby, Mich./Henry Ford HS) and Sarah Robb (Novi, Mich.) were all selected to the 2011-12 GLIAC All-Academic Team. Nicole Adam (Sterling Heights, Mich.) was the lone sophomore on the All-Academic list for the Cardinals.

All-Academic Teams are comprised of those student-athletes that meet criteria and carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.0-3.49.

Senior Sara Lowe (Battle Creek, Mich./Grand Rapids CC) along with juniors Sam Breault (Bad Axe, Mich.) and Laurel Mattson (Lake Odessa, Mich./Lakewood HS) as well as sophomore Julia Thomas (Novi, Mich.) were named to the 2011-12 GLIAC Academic Excellence Team.

Academic Excellence Teams are comprised of student athletes that have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50-4.0.
