AURORA, Ill. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's volleyball team fell to Indianapolis, 3-0, today (10/15) at day two of the GLVC/GLIAC Crossover Tournament. The Cardinals fall to 10-8 on the season while the Greyhounds improve to 14-5.
Saginaw Valley struggled to get anything going in the first set as they lost 25-15. The Cardinals fought back in the second but failed to gain any momentum and lost 25-19, and would not improve in the third set losing 25-10.
The Cardinals were led by Chili's "Player of the Match" Annie Buxton (Aurora, Ont./Aurora SS) who led the team in kills with eight, while also recording 10 digs and one block. Freshman Andrea Meram (Washington Twp., Mich./Romeo HS) would record a team-high 23 assists and a total of five digs on the match. Teammates Katie Fitzgerald (Whitby, Ont./Sinclair SS) and Kelsey Ferla (Lincoln Park, Mich./Gabriel Richard HS) would tally seven and six kills, respectively, for Saginaw Valley while libero Laura Ward (White Lake, Mich./Lakeland HS) would record a match-high 12 digs.
The Cardinals will be back in action again Friday (Oct. 21) when they host the Northern Michigan Wildcats for a 7pm start.
