Buxton Leads All-GLIAC Selection for Cardinals

BAY CITY, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University volleyball team placed three players on All-GLIAC teams for the 2010 season as was announced by the league office.  Annie Buxton was selected to the first-team, while Katie Fitzgerald and Jessica Treiber were selected to the second-team and honorable mention team repectively.

Buxton, a junior outside hitter from Aurora, Ontario had a great season for the Cardinals, finishing with 382 kills in 26 matches played on the season to earn First Team All-GLIAC honors.  She hit a solid .206 on the year and finished the season with 232 digs.

Fitzgerald, a junior middle hitter from Whitby, Ontario stepped into the starting spot in the middle and hit .308 with 216 kills on the season to earn Second Team All-GLIAC honors.  She also racked up 74 blocks and had 34 aces in 26 matches played.

Treiber, a senior right side from Sebewaing, Mich. had a solid season as she battled an injury the last half of the season.  Treiber finished with 133 kills and hit .203 on the season to earn Honorable Mention All-GLIAC honors.  She also had 34 blocks and 37 digs in just 15 matches of action on the season.

The Cardinals finished the season with a 14-12 record.
