Volleyball Falls At Ferris State, 3-0

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. -  The Saginaw Valley State University volleyball team fell on the road to the Ferris State University Bulldogs by a score of 3-0.  The loss drops SVSU to 12-12 overall on the season and 7-10 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play while the Bulldogs improve to 15-9 overall and 11-6 in league contests.

The Bulldogs took the opening set by a score of 25-16 after jumping out to an 8-0 lead.  Ferris would claim the second frame by a count of 25-14 as well before rounding things out with a 25-16 victory in the third and final set.  

Chili's "Player of the Match" Katie Fitzgerald (Whitby, Ont./Sinclair SS) led the offensive attack for the Cards, posting seven kills while hitting for a team-high .263 percentage.  Annie Buxton (Aurora, Ont./Aurora SS) also had seven kills while Katie Maciejewski (Laingsburg, Mich.) had five.  Laura Ward (White Lake, Mich./Lakeland HS) had a team-high eight digs while Becky Schroeder (Owosso, Mich.) had a pair of blocks for the Cardinals.

The Cardinals are in action again this weekend, as they return home for the final two regular season matches of the 2010 season.  SVSU will host Lake Superior State University on Saturday (11/6) and Northwood University on Sunday (11/7).  Both contests are slated to begin at 2:00 pm.
