Volleyball Falls To #15 Northern Michigan, 3-0

MARQUETTE, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University volleyball team fell to the #15 Northern Michigan University Wildcats by a score of 3-0 Saturday afternoon.  The loss drops the Cardinals to 11-9 overall and 6-7 in the GLIAC while the Wildcats maintain the top spot in the GLIAC North Division with a 19-1 overall record and 13-0 mark in league play.

The Wildcats took the first two sets by scores of 25-19 each before finishing with a 25-18 victory in the third and final set.  

Chili's "Player of the Match" Annie Buxton (Aurora, Ont./Aurora SS) had a match-high 12 kills for the Cardinals while Jessica Treiber (Sebewaing, Mich./USA HS) had eight and Katie Fitzgerald (Whitby, Ont./Sinclair SS) posted seven.  Laura Ward (White Lake, Mich./Lakeland HS) had a match-high 13 digs and Sam Breault (Bad Axe, Mich.) had a match-high 27 assists for SVSU.  

The Cardinals travel to #22 Grand Valley State University Tuesday for a 7:00 pm match before returning home for a pair of "Dig for a Cure" matches against Ohio Dominican on Friday (10/29) and Tiffin on Sunday (10/31).  Friday's match will start at 7:00 pm while Sunday's tilt will begin at 2:00 pm.
