UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University volleyball team dropped a 3-0 match to the visiting Ashland University Eagles on Saturday afternoon (10/9). The loss drops the Cardinals to 6-8 overall on the season and 4-6 in the GLIAC while the Eagles improve to 11-6 and 6-5, respectively.
Ashland took the first set, 25-15 before taking the second and third sets by scores of 25-12 and 25-21.
Chili's "Player of the Match" Annie Buxton (Aurora, Ont./Aurora SS) led the team with 10 kills and three blocks. Sam Breault (Bad Axe, Mich.) had 20 assists and four service aces. Laura Ward (White Lake, Mich./Lakeland HS) had a team-high eight digs.
SVSU is back in action Sunday (10/10), as is hosts Lake Erie College in a GLIAC match set to begin at 2:00 pm.
