UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw
Valley State University volleyball team defeated Northwood
University Friday night (10/2) by a score of 3-0. The Cardinals
took the first game by a 26-24 score before taking the next two by
counts of 25-15 and 25-22, respectively.
Senior Allison
Schlinkert (Marysville, Mich.) led the offensive attack with 12
kills and three service aces. Sophomore Annie Buxton
(Aurora, Ont./Aurora SS) contributed nine kills and four digs in
the match. Senior Kait Harris
(Essexville, Mich./Garber HS) recorded 38 assists in the three-game
match along with six digs and three kills. Junior Jessica Treiber
(Unionville, Mich./Unionville-Sebewaing HS) added eight kills in
the contest.
The victory puts the Cardinals’ record at 11-5 overall on
the season with a 6-2 mark in GLIAC play while the Timberwolves
fall to 5-11 overall and 3-5 in the conference. SVSU will host
Wayne State tomorrow (10/3) in a 4:30 pm GLIAC contest.
