TIFFIN, Ohio – The Saginaw Valley State
University volleyball team defeated the Tiffin University Dragons
in straight games (3-0) on Friday evening (9/18). The Cardinals won
the first game by a score of 25-13, the second by a score of 26-24,
and finished the match with another 25-13 score.
Sophomore Annie
Buxton (Aurora, Ont.) recorded nine kills in the match to go
along with seven digs. Senior Jaclyn Carnago
(St. Clair, Mich.) and sophomore Katie Fitzgerald
(Whitby, Ont./Sinclair SS) each posted eight kills. Senior setter
Kait Harris
(Essexville, Mich./Garber HS) had 29 assists for the match while
sophomore libero Laura Ward (White
Lake, Mich./Lakeland HS) recorded 13 digs versus the Dragons.
The sweep of Tiffin gives SVSU an 8-4 record on the season with a
3-1 record in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference
(GLIAC) play while TU falls to 1-11 with an 0-4 record in GLIAC
play. Saginaw will continue play Saturday, when it faces Ashland
University for a 1:00 pm match-up.
