ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley
State University volleyball team dropped a closely-contested 3-0
match to Grand Valley State University Saturday afternoon (9/26).
The match featured scores of 26-24, 25-23 and 25-22.
SVSU was led by sophomore Katie Fitzgerald
(Whitby, Ont./Sinclair SS), who recorded 11 kills in the match.
Senior Allison
Schlinkert (Marysville, Mich.) added nine kils. Senior Kait Harris
(Essexville, Mich./Garber HS) had 34 assists in the three-set
affair as well as 10 digs. Sophomore Laura Ward (White
Lake, Mich./Lakeland HS) had 12 digs from the libero position.
The loss puts the Cardinals’ record at 10-5 on the season
with a 5-2 record in GLIAC play. GVSU moves to 9-6 overall with the
same 5-2 record in GLIAC contests. SVSU returns to action this
weekend when it hosts Northwood University (10/2) and Wayne State
University (10/3).
