BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – In a match which
featured the top two teams in the GLIAC North Division, Saginaw
Valley State prevailed over Ferris State in a Friday night
volleyball contest. The Cardinals traveled to Big Rapids and posted
a 3-0 victory over the Bulldogs. SVSU won by scores of 25-19, 28-26
and 25-16.
GLIAC North Division “Player of the Week” Annie Buxton
(Aurora, Ont./Aurora SS) continued her hot streak, posting a
match-high 10 kills in the contest along with 10 digs, one assist
and one block. Senior setter Kait Harris
(Essexville, Mich./Garber HS) posted 24 assists in the three-set
match. She also recorded a match-high 12 digs and two service
aces.
The victory over the Bulldogs pushes the Cardinals’ record
to 10-4 on the season with a 5-1 mark in GLIAC competition. The
Bulldogs fall to 11-5 overall with a 4-2 record in the GLIAC. SVSU
travels to Grand Valley State University Saturday (9/26) for a 4:00
pm match.
