ASHLAND, Ohio – The Saginaw Valley State
University volleyball team defeated Ashland University Saturday
(Sept. 19), 3-0, and completed a sweep for this weekend’s
trip to Ohio after defeating Tiffin University Friday (Sept. 18) by
the same 3-0 score. The Cardinals were victorious by scores of
25-18, 25-22, and 25-18 against Ashland.
Senior Jaclyn Carnago (St. Clair, Mich.) and sophomore Annie Buxton
(Aurora, Ont.) both recorded 10 kills, with Buxton adding 10 digs
and Carnago with six. Senior setter Kait Harris
(Essexville, Mich. / Garber HS) set-up her teammates very well,
totaling 40 assists in the match. Sophomore libero Laura Ward (White
Lake, Mich. / Lakeland HS) had a team high 26 digs versus the
Eagles.
The victory moves SVSU to 9-4 overall with a 4-1 record in GLIAC
play while Ashland slides to 7-6 with a 3-2 mark in conference
play. The Cardinals continue play next weekend, Friday (Sept. 25),
against Ferris State University before paying a visit to Grand
Valley State University on Saturday (Sept. 26).
