LA JOLLA,Calif. -- The Saginaw Valley State
University volleyball team split a pair of matches Friday (9/4) at
the UC San Diego Triton Invitational. The Cardinals dropped a 3-0
decision to host UC San Diego, who is ranked number seven
nationally before rebounding for a 3-0 victory over Cal State
Dominguez Hills.
Senior Kait
Harris (Essexville, Mich. / Garber HS) led the way with 37
assists for the two matches while sophomore Annie Buxton
(Aurora, Ont. / Aurora SS) added 14 kills and 21 digs. Sophomore Katie
Fitzgerald (Whitby, Ont. / Sinclair SS) contributed 10 kills
versus the West Coast opponents.
The Cardinals’ record now stands at 4-2 on the season as
they continue play in La Jolla, Calif. for a pair of matches
against #2 Cal State San Bernardino and #21 Cal State Los Angeles
(9/5).
