Volleyball Set To Host "Dig for a Cure" Weekend

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University volleyball team will be hosting “Dig for a Cure” matches this Friday (Oct. 9) against Hillsdale College and Saturday (Oct. 10) against the University of Findlay. The events are being held to raise funds for under or un-insured women who are struck with breast cancer and will be sponsored by Dr. Ernie P. Balcueva of Saginaw.

Fans are asked to join the Cardinal volleyball team and its staff in wearing pink and showing their support for breast cancer research. At the contests, “Dig for a Cure” game programs ($1) and t-shirts ($7) will be available for purchase, as all proceeds will go to the Covenant Healthcare Foundation’s Breast Health Center CARE Fund.

The SVSU Volleyball team is currently in first-place in the GLIAC North Division with a record of 7-2 in conference play, and will face Hillsdale College in Friday’s match for sole-possession of first in the GLIAC before facing the University of Findlay on Saturday. Hillsdale is also 7-2 in conference play and sits atop the South Division while Findlay has a 2-7 record in the GLIAC.
