UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw
Valley State University volleyball team will be hosting “Dig
for a Cure” matches this Friday (Oct. 9) against Hillsdale
College and Saturday (Oct. 10) against the University of Findlay.
The events are being held to raise funds for under or un-insured
women who are struck with breast cancer and will be sponsored by
Dr. Ernie P. Balcueva of Saginaw.
Fans are asked to join the Cardinal volleyball team and its staff
in wearing pink and showing their support for breast cancer
research. At the contests, “Dig for a Cure” game
programs ($1) and t-shirts ($7) will be available for purchase, as
all proceeds will go to the Covenant Healthcare Foundation’s
Breast Health Center CARE Fund.
The SVSU Volleyball team is currently in first-place in the GLIAC
North Division with a record of 7-2 in conference play, and will
face Hillsdale College in Friday’s match for sole-possession
of first in the GLIAC before facing the University of Findlay on
Saturday. Hillsdale is also 7-2 in conference play and sits atop
the South Division while Findlay has a 2-7 record in the GLIAC.
