Volleyball Posts 3-1 Record At Bulldog Invitational

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University volleyball team posted a 3-1 record this weekend at the Ferris State University Bulldog Invitational.

The Cardinals opened play with a 3-1 loss to Indianapolis before defeating St. Joseph’s (Ind.) (3-0) on Friday (8/28). On Saturday, SVSU rounded-out play for the weekend with victories over #14 California (Pa.) (3-2) and Southern Indiana (3-1). Saginaw was led by Annie Buxton with 34 kills and Kait Harris, who posted 111 assists. Katie Fitzgerald and Jaclyn Carnago each had 29 kills. Laura Ward recorded 46 digs for the tournament. These figures do not include the match against St. Joseph’s, but stats for that game should be available in the near future.

SVSU will now travel to San Diego (Calif.) for the UC San Diego Triton Invitational September 4-5. The Cardinals now stand at 3-1 on the season and have yet to play any conference matches. The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference portion of Saginaw Valley’s schedule begins on September 11, when the Cardinals host Northern Michigan University.
