Volleyball Downs Lake Superior On Senior Night, 3-0

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University volleyball team hosted its annual "Senior Night" in the Cardinal Gymnasium on Friday night (Nov. 6), and the seniors were sent-out on a high note.  The Cardinals took care of business with a 3-0 sweep of Lake Superior State University by identical scores of 25-12, 25-12, and 25-12.  Seniors Kait Harris (Essexville, Mich./Garber HS), Jaclyn Carnago (St. Clair, Mich.), Allison Schlinkert (Marysville, Mich.), and Ashley Hendrick (Cass City, Mich.) were all honored prior to the contest as they competed in their final home regular season contest.

Carnago went-out swinging, as she posted eight kills on 11 total attacks while hitting .727 on the evening.  She also recorded four service aces, in a row, as well as one block.  Harris recorded 36 assists and four aces in the Cardinal sweep.  Junior Jessica Treiber (Sebewaing, Mich./USA HS) had 12 kills in the contest while hitting .579 and sophomore Annie Buxton (Aurora, Ont.) posted eight kills and eight digs.  Schlinkert had four kills and seven digs on the night while Hendrick had three digs and an assist.  The Cardinals hit .360 overall as a team on the evening as well as recording 11 service aces.

With the victory, the Cardinals move to 19-8 overall on the season with a 12-4 record in the GLIAC while Lake State falls to 3-24 overall and 2-14 in league play.  SVSU will host a First-Round GLIAC Tournament match on Wednesday against an unknown opponent at this point.
