Volleyball Defeats Grand Valley State, 3-0

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University volleyball team defeated the Grand Valley State University lakers today (Oct. 31) by virtue of a sweep.  The Cardinals took the first two sets by identical scores of 25-17 before winning the third and final set by a score of 29-27. 

The Cardinals were led by junior Jessica Treiber (Unionville, Mich./USA HS), who posted 13 kills while hitting .367 for the contest.  Senior Allison Schlinkert (Marysville, Mich.) had another double-digit kills effort, posting 11 against the Lakers along with eight digs.  Senior Kait Harris had 35 assists and six digs in the sweep.  Sophomore Laura Ward (White Lake, Mich./Lakeland HS recorded 29 digs for SVSU.  Senior Jaclyn Carnago (St. Clair, Mich.) had seven kills while hitting .429 to go along with three aces and a block.

With the GLIAC North Division victory, the Cardinals improve to 18-8 on the season with an 11-4 record in conference play while the Lakers drop to 15-10 overall with a 10-4 mark in conference play.  SVSU will be in action Friday (Nov. 6) when it hosts Lake Superior State University for a 7:00 pm match-up.
