UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University volleyball team defeated the Ferris State University Bulldogs by a score of 3-1 Friday night (Oct. 30).  The Cardinals took the first two sets by scores of 25-21 and 25-20, respectively before Ferris rebounded for a third-set win, 25-19.  SVSU would answer right back, posting a 25-20 victory in the fourth and final set of the night.

Senior Allison Schlinkert (Marysville, Mich.) posted 15 kills and six digs for the Cardinals while junior Jessica Treiber (Unionville, Mich./USA HS) recorded 14 kills and four blocks.  Senior setter Kait Harris (Essexville, Mich./Garber HS) posted 50 assists, five digs and two aces.  Sophomore Katie Fitzgerald (Whitby, Ont./Sinclair SS) had 10 kills and four blocks while fellow sophomore Laura Ward (White Lake, Mich./Lakeland HS) had 19 digs in the four-set victory.

The Cardinals record is now 17-8 on the season with a 10-4 mark in the GLIAC with the win while the Bulldogs now sit at 17-9 overall with an 8-5 record in conference play.  SVSU will host Grand Valley State University tomorrow for a Halloween match-up and part of an SVSU "Red Out", being held in conjuction with the football game vs. the University of Findlay at noon.  Come out in red and support your athletic teams.
