Volleyball Defeats Michigan Tech, 3-1

Houghton, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University volleyball team defeated Michigan Tech Saturday (Oct. 24) by a score of 3-1. 

Senior Jaclyn Carnago (St. Clair, Mich.) led the Cardinals with 16 kills while hitting .500 while sophomore Annie Buxton (Aurora, Ont.) had 14 kills and 11 digs.  Senior Allison Schlinkert (Marysville, Mich.) and sophomore Katie Fitzgerald (Whitby, Ont.) had 11 kills each, with Schlinkert adding 12 digs.  Senior Kait Harris (Essexville, Mich./Garber HS) had 53 assists and 11 digs in the four-set affair.  Sophomore Laura Ward (White Lake, Mich./Lakeland HS) contributed 13 digs to the Cardinal effort.

With the win, SVSU is now 16-8 on the season with a 9-4 record in the GLIAC.  The Cardinals will host Ferris State (Oct. 30) and Grand Valley State (Oct. 31) this upcoming weekend in key conference match-ups.
