Volleyball Falls In Five To Northern Michigan

Marquette, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University volleyball team fell in five sets to Northern Michigan University Friday evening (Oct. 23).  The Cardinals dropped the first two sets by the same 25-22 score before winning the next two by scores of 25-18 and 25-14, respectively.  SVSU lost the fifth and final set by a count of 15-9.

Senior Kait Harris (Essexville, Mich./Garber HS) led offensively with 40 assists and added 11 digs for the Cardinals.  Sophomore Annie Buxton (Aurora, Ont.) tallied 16 kills as well as 13 digs for SVSU.  Junior Jessica Treiber (Unionville, Mich./USA HS) posted 11 kills while hitting for a .320 clip against the Wildcats.  Sophomore Laura Ward (White Lake, Mich./Lakeland HS) had 22 digs for Saginaw while senior Allison Schlinkert (Marysville, Mich.) had 14.

The loss puts the Cardinals' record at 15-8 on the season with an 8-4 mark in conference play.  The Wildcats improve to 15-8 and 9-3, respectively.  Saginaw Valley will play at Michigan Tech tomorrow (Oct. 24) for a 4:00 pm match-up with the Huskies.
