INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Saginaw Valley State
University volleyball team lost its third match of the GLIAC/GLVC
Challenge today (Oct. 18) taking 23rd ranked Northern Kentucky
University to five games before falling 26-24, 25-22, 21-25, 20-25
and 12-15.
In the match, the Cardinals had 67 kills, led by senior outside
hitter Sarah Redoute (Clinton Township, Mich./L’Anse Creuse
HS) who contributed 24 kills to lead all players in the match,
while middle hitter Jaclyn Carnago (St. Clair, Mich./St. Clair HS)
got a dozen kills. Junior outside hitter Allison Schlinkert
(Marysville, Mich./Marysville HS) contributed 10 kills.
Defensively for the Cardinals, senior Carmen Schacher (Flint,
Mich./Kearsley HS) got 18 digs to lead all players in the match.
Junior setter Kait Harris (Essexville, Mich/Garber HS) got 10 digs,
and 54 assists to lead all players in assists.
The Cardinals fall to 17-5 on the season, and will return to
action at 7 p.m. Oct. 24 when SVSU takes on Michigan Tech. in
Cardinal Gym for High School Night, and the first game of the
Cardinals’ two-game fundraising effort for "Dig for the
Cure."
