Volleyball Loses 3-2 to Northwood

MIDLAND, Mich. – Coming off a thrilling 3-2 victory over Wayne State University Friday night, the SVSU volleyball team couldn’t recapture the magic and lost 3-2 to Northwood University on Saturday. The Cardinals lost 25-21, 20-25, 25-12, 21-25 and 12-15.

In another match that went five games, the Cardinals were led by senior outside hitter Sarah Redoute (Clinton Township, Mich./L’Anse Creuse HS) who had 14 kills on the night while middle hitter freshman Katie Fitzgerald (Whitby, Ont./Sinclair SS) followed closely with 12 kills on the night. Junior setter Kait Harris (Essexville, Mich. Garber HS) led both teams with 46 assists.

On defense, the Cardinals were led by senior Carmen Schacher (Flint, Mich./Kearsley HS) with 22 digs.

The loss gives SVSU an overall record of 13-4 and 5-4 in the GLIAC as the Cardinals gear up for their next match scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Oct. 10 when they travel to the University of Findlay.
