SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley
State University volleyball team ended their march toward the GLIAC
Tournament on a high note by knocking off Lake Superior State today
25-16, 23-25, 25-19 and 25-18.
Leading the Cardinals in their last regular season match was
senior outside hitter Sarah Redoute (Clinton Township,
Mich./L’Anse HS) with a match-high 17 kills, and 15 digs -
her fourth double-double in five matches. Also contributing to the
offense was junior setter Kait Harris (Essexville, Mich./Garber HS)
with 34 assists, junior middle hitter Jaclyn Carnago knocked out 13
kills (St. Clair, Mich./St. Clair HS) and junior outside hitter
Allison Schlinkert (Marysville, Mich./Marysville HS) with 11
kills.
On defense, the Cardinals were led by Redoute with 15 digs, and
defensive specialist Carmen Schacher (Flint, Mich./Kearsley HS)
with 14 digs over the four games.
The win moves SVSU to 21-6 overall, and 11-5 in the GLIAC, while
Lake Superior State falls to 6-18 overall, and 2-14 in the GLIAC.
