UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw
Valley State University volleyball team won their second match this
weekend as they spiked visiting Northern Michigan University today
in four games (Oct. 25) 25-23, 18-25, 25-16 and 25-22.
On offense, the Cardinals were lead by senior Sarah Redoute
(Clinton Township, Mich./L’Anse HS) who had a team-high 15
kills, while freshman Katie Fitzgerald (Whitby, Ont./Sinclair SS)
contributed 11 kills. Junior setter Kait Harris (Essexville,
Mich./Garber HS) had a game-high 43 assists on the day.
The defense was lead by Redoute, who had a game-high 25 digs making
this her second match in a row with a double-double. Harris, and
senior Carmen Schacher (Flint, Mich./Kearsley HS) kicked in with 18
digs each.
The win gives the Cardinals a 19-5 overall record, and 9-4 in the
GLIAC, while Northern Michigan falls to 16-9 overall, and 10-4 in
the GLIAC. SVSU will return to action when they invade Allendale,
Mich. on Oct. 31 when the Cardinals take on rival Grand Valley
State University.
