UNIVERSITY CENTER - The Saginaw Valley State University women's track & field team participated in the SVSU-hosted 2015 GLIAC Indoor Track & Field Championships on day one Saturday (Feb. 28).  The Lady Cardinals sit in seventh place after the first day of competition.

The Distance Medley Relay Team, consisting of Brittany Johnson, Kimberly Balls, Taylor Stepanski and Alicia Tomlin, posted a runner-up finish in the event with a time of 11:36.99.  The time was good enough for an NCAA Provisional Qualifying mark and set a new school indoor record.

Devyn Powell had a seventh place showing in the 400 Meter Dash, crossing the line with a time of 57.94 to qualify her for the finals on Sunday.

Balls had an 11th place finish in the 60 Meter Dash, narrowly missing out on qualifying for the finals with a time of 7.84.

Bria Williams and Tierra Williams finished 10th and 11th in the 60 Meter Hurdles, posting times of 8.99 and 9.00 seconds, respectively.

Paige Stepanski and Sidney Bischer finished 4th and 5th in the 800 Meter Run portion of the Pentathlon, crossing the line in times of 2:24.99 and 2:26.63, respectively.

Bischer added a 3rd place showing with a height of 5'4.5" in the high jump of the pentathlon and a distance of 16'6" in the long jump portion, good enough for a 6th place finish.

The Lady Cardinals return to action on Day Two on Sunday (Mar. 1), as events begin at 9:00 am at the SVSU Fieldhouse.
