Cardinals continue play at GLIAC tournament against Huskies

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University women's tennis team continued play at the 2021 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Saturday in Midland, Mich.

The Cardinals fell 4-0 to Michigan Tech in the consolation bracket and will move on to the seventh-place matchup on the final day of the tournament on Sunday.

The match was played under clinch rules, stipulating that once one team reached four points, the contest was considered final.

SVSU dropped doubles matches at No. 1 and No. 3. Nicole Johnson fell at No. five singles 6-3, 6-3, while SVSU was forced to concede No. 3 singles and No 4 singles due to retirement.

The Cardinals will take on Ashland University for seventh place at 1 pm Saturday in Midland. The match will be played at Northwood University if outdoors and at the Greater Midland Tennis Center if the need arises to move indoors.
