ORLANDO, Fla. -- The SVSU Women's Tennis team faced a Division I opponent on Monday evening in East Carolina at the USTA National Training Center in Orlando, Florida. The Pirates would end up claiming a 7-0 victory over the Cardinals.
Nicole Johnson and Taylor McLaughlin played great at the No. 2 Doubles slot but eventually fell by a narrow 7-5 count. Maddie Miller and Joanne Gao dropped their match at No. 1 by a 6-1 score.
In singles, ECU claimed all of the matches as well, closing-out for the shutout as Saginaw Valley was only playing with four student-athletes.
McLaughlin dropped her contest 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 singles while Johnson fell by a 6-1, 6-0 count at No. 4. Miller lost her matchup at the top spot by a score of 6-1, 6-2 while Gao dropped her No. 2 singles match by a 6-2, 6-1 score.
