MIDLAND -- The Cardinal Women's Tennis team rounded-out play at the 2017 GLIAC Tournament with a 5-0 victory over Michigan Tech on Sunday (Oct. 29) morning. Saginaw Valley swept through all three doubles matchups and posted victories at the No. 2 and No. 6 singles positions to claim the fifth-place match.
Doubles
Shea Donahue and Taylor McLaughlin were victorious in the tightest match of the doubles session, claiming a 9-8 decision over their Husky opponents. At the No 2 spot, Maddie Miller and Danielle Slonac registered an 8-4 victory for the Cardinals. Joanne Gao and Maya Campbell made it 3-for-3 in doubles, posting an 8-3 win for SVSU.
Singles
There were only two singles matchups that went the entire way between the teams, with one being Campbell's 6-4, 7-6 win at No. 6 singles. Miller had the other singles win, earning a decisive 6-1, 6-2 victory at her No. 2 slot.

The victory over the Huskies completes the fall portion of the 2017-18 season for Saginaw Valley. The Cardinals will continue play in the spring season, which will feature the team's spring trip to Florida in early March.
