Coaches named Strong, Kingpavong to All-Region Teams

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The United Soccer Coaches announced the 2021 NCAA DII Women's All-Region Teams with two Cardinals receiving honors for their efforts this season.

Stephanie Strong was named to the All-Region First Team after the Freshman led the Cardinals in goals this season. The Howell, Mich., native set a new SVSU program record with 14 goals in 2021 in 23 games. The forward added two assists and took 74 shots. Strong adds the award to her 2021 haul, which includes GLIAC Freshman of the Year, All-GLIAC First Team, and D2CCA All-Region Second Team.

Reegan Kingpavong, also a freshman for SVSU, was named to the All-Region Second Team as a midfielder. The Rockford, Ill., native was third on the team with five goals scored and tied for the team lead with five assists. Kingpavong was named to the All-GLIAC Second Team earlier this season.

The Cardinals closed the 2021 season in the NCAA DII National Tournament Round of 16, finishing the season with a record of 14-6-3 overall setting a new program high for wins.
