Huskies top Cardinals 5-0 in GLIAC contest

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer team hosted its second of four consecutive home games, welcoming Michigan Tech for a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest Saturday at Braddock Field.

The Huskies took control early and went on to win 5-0 over the Cardinals, who drop to 0-3-0 overall and in the GLIAC this season.

SVSU was outshot 14-6 in the loss, while Cardinal goalkeeper Alyssa Watts (0-3-0) made four saves in net. Reegan Kingpavong led the SVSU offense with two shots, including one on goal.

The Huskies got the scoring started in the 10th minute on a goal from Haley Ruiter. Leading 2-0 at the break, MTU put the game away with two early second-half goals.

The Cardinals return to action against the University of Wisconsin Parkside at 1 pm Thursday at Braddock Field.
