Vanderhoff, Giambanco earn D2CCA All-Midwest Region honors

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. -- A pair of SVSU Women's Soccer student-athletes earned Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-Midwest Region honors following their performances during the 2018 season. 

Molly Vanderhoff was named the the D2CCA All-Midwest Region First Team as a midfielder while Valentina Giambanco earned All-Midwest Region Second Team plaudits at the forward position. 

Vanderhoff earns her second career all-region accolade after she was named to the 2017 United Soccer Coaches All-Midwest Region Third Team. She led the team in 2018 with 26 points, registering team-highs with nine goals and eight assists. She tied for 5th in the GLIAC in goals and third in assists. Vanderhoff had three game-winning goals in the 2018 campaign.  

Giambanco garners her first career all-region honor. She matched Vanderhoff's nine goals and added six assists, racking-up 24 points. Her nine goals tied for 5th in the league as well and she was fourth with 70 total shots. Of her nine goals, one was of the game-winning variety. 

The Cardinals competed in the 2018 NCAA Division II postseason tournament for the third time in program history, falling to Walsh University in the opening round. Saginaw Valley finished 2018 with an overall record of 12-4-4. The team's 12 wins are the second most in program history and their 46 goals and 10 shutouts were new program bests as well.
