Women's Soccer set to compete in GLIAC Semifinals this weekend

2018 GLIAC Women's Soccer Tournament Central

ALLENDALE -- The Saginaw Valley State University Women's Soccer team, fresh off a 4-0 shutout victory over Parkside in the 2018 GLIAC Women's Soccer Quarterfinals, have advanced on to play in the tournament's semifinals round this weekend.

The Cardinals, seeded #3 in the annual postseason tournament, will square-off with #2 Ferris State University on Friday. First kick is set for 7:30 p.m. at Grand Valley State University.

The winner of that match will face the winner of the GVSU / Ashland match that is to be played at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. 

Saginaw Valley stands at 12-3-3 overall on the season and the 12 victories are the most since the 2009 campaign. The team has a program record nine shutouts and and looking to make another run in this year's tournament. In 2017, the Cards finished runner-up to GV in their first appearance in the tournament's title match since 2012. 

The Bulldogs are 15-2-2 overall and ranked #14 in the nation. The teams have met twice this season, with Ferris defeating SVSU 2-1 in an early season regional match at SVSU before the two teams tied 1-1 in Big Rapids on Sep. 30.
