ASHLAND, Ohio — The Saginaw Valley State women's Soccer team's sophomore defender, Jennifer Muana, earned Second-Team All-Midwest Region honors after a 2017 season finish in the GLIAC tournament finals. The D2CCA all-region teams are nominated and selected by the region's sports information directors.

Muana held down the back line for the second year in a row, earning back-to-back All-GLIAC accolades. Muana was named All-GLIAC First Team as a defender, leading the team to the seven shutouts this season. She added three goals including one game-winner on the 2017 season. In 2016, Muana recorded a pair of assists from the back line and was named to the All-GLIAC Honorable Mention squad.

Saginaw Valley advanced to its first GLIAC tournament finals under head coach Michael O'Neill, but fell in regulation time to Grand Valley, 3-0. The team posted a 10-7-2 (4-4-1 GLIAC) finish on the year. SVSU Women's Soccer team will lose three outstanding seniors in the program heading into the 2018 season.
