Cardinals Close Out Weekend Strong With 2-1 Victory Over Findlay

UNIVERSITY CENTER, MICH.– Saginaw Valley took down Findlay in a 2-1 victory Sunday afternoon (Sept. 10). The Cardinals now increase their winning streak to three, with an overall record of 3-1-0. The Oilers drop to 1-4-0.

The Cardinals out-shot the Oilers 17-7 in the contest, with 9-4 in the first half and 8-2 in the second. Saginaw Valley posted both of their goals in the first half while Findlay earned their single goal in the second.

At the 22' mark in the first half, Whitney Fleming assisted by Valentina Giambanco, scored in the top of the box. Cardinal Molly Vanderhoff assisted by Valentina Giambanco, dribbled in on the left side of the box to earn her season goal of the weekened for SVSU. Findlay responded in the second half with an penalty kick goal at the 68' mark. Cardinals went on to sweep the weekend with a 2-1 victory over the Oilers.
