Three Lady Cardinals Earn 2016 Women's Soccer All-GLIAC Plaudits

BAY CITY, Mich. - Three Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer student-athletes were named All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) following postseason balloting conducted by the league's head coaches in conjunction with the annual league tournament.

Senior Ashley Henderson was selected to the All-GLIAC Second Team at forward. It marks the third consecutive season in which she has been awarded second team honors. Henderson led SVSU this season in goals (11), points (24), game-winning goals (5) and shots on goal (41). She now holds the school records in goals, shots on goal and game-winning goals and finishes third in career points.

Senior defender Bria Spraggins was awarded Second Team All-GLIAC honors as a defender. Spraggins started in all 18 matches for SVSU this season, where she recorded three shots on goal. She finishes her career at SVSU with 3 points (one goal, one assist) and 11 shots on goal while appearing in 57 games on the back line for the Cardinals.

Freshman defender Jennifer Muanamputu held down the back line of the defense along with Spraggins in her first campaign at the collegiate level. She recorded a pair of assists from the back line on the season while being named to the All-GLIAC Honorable Mention squad.

The Lady Cardinals finished 2016 with a 10-7-1 record overall and just narrowly missed out on qualifying for the GLIAC Tournament. They will return a heavy dose of talent and depth for the 2017-18 season.
