UNIVERSITY CENTER - The SVSU women's soccer team fell by a final score of 2-0 to the #7 Grand Valley State University Lakers on Friday afternoon at SVSU's Braddock Field.

The Lakers got on the board at the 26:11 mark when Kendra Stauffer scored an unassisted goal to give the visitors the 1-0 lead. 

That lead carried true into halftime and until the 63:26 marker fo the second half when GVSU's Samantha Riga extended the lead to 2-0 with a goal.

That's what the final score would be, as the Lakers closed out for their ninth straight victory.

Inside the Boxscore

  • SVSU had eight shots in the contest compared to 19 for GVSU.
  • Half of the Cardinals' eight shots were put on goal, as the Lakers' Paige Pryson (3-0-0) made four saves.
  • Claire Spleth (3-6-0) made a season-high six saves of the eight shots on goal she faced in the contest.
  • Ashley Henderson had a team-high four shots for the Cards, one being put on goal.
  • GVSU's Marti Corby had a team-high four shots for the Lakers, all on goal.

Up Next for the Lady Cardinals...

The Lady Cardinals travel to play at Ferris State University in a noon matchup on Sunday (Oct. 4) afternoon. The Bulldogs are 8-2-1 overall and 4-0-1 in GLIAC play. They are coming off a 1-0 victory at Northwood on Friday afternoon.
