Lady Cardinals Fall to Panthers in GLIAC Opener

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer team played its first GLIAC match of the 2015 season at home today against the Ohio Dominican Panthers. The only goal of the game came from the Panther's early in the second half and the game ended 1-0.

The first half finished with no goals on the board from either side. Ohio Dominican made 11 shots in total, while Saginaw Valley was able to tally seven. Three of them belonged to Ashley Henderson and two each came from Presley Tibbetts and Mallory Hestwood.

The Panthers' goal came from Emily Riviello at the 59th minute of the match. Riviello was assisted by Jessica Gross.

SV was out-shot on goal, with two compared to ODU's six. Goalkeeper Claire Spleth (2-2) made five saves, tieing her high for the season.

The Lady Cardinals (2-2) host their second GLIAC match against Tiffin this Sunday at 12:00 p.m. at Braddock Field
