Women's Soccer Downs Ninth-Ranked Rangers, 2-0

KENOSHA, Wis. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer team squared-off against the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Rangers for the second time in the past three matches. Facing the team that knocked them out of the 2014 NCAA Division II Playoffs, the Lady Cardinals came up big with a 2-0 shutout victory over the ninth-ranked Rangers.

Neither team found the back of the net in the first 45 minutes of play, with Parkside notching four shots and SVSU two shots on goal.

The game's first score came at the 68:08 mark when SVSU's Kristen Syrowik headed a ball past the Ranger goalkeeper for the 1-0 lead. Presley Tibbetts assisted on Syrowik's first-career goal.

The Cardinals added their second score at the 88:45 marker, as Lisa Schade scored her first goal, using a feed from Ashley Henderson to put the visitors up 2-0.

Claire Spleth (1-1) notched her first win of the 2015 season after posting two saves on the only two shots on goal she faced.

That's what the final would remain, as the Cards improved to 1-1 overall for the 2015 season.

Saginaw Valley is back in action on Friday, September 11th for a home match against Madonna University. Kick-off is set for 1:00 p.m. at SVSU's Braddock Field.
