Lady Cardinals Edged By Bulldogs, 1-0

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Lady Cardinal soccer team hosted the Ferris State University Bulldogs on the back-end of a two game home weekend for the Cardinals.  The Bulldogs escaped town with a victory, as Saginaw Valley lost its second-consecutive match by a score of 1-0.

The first half saw no action as far as goal-scoring was concerned, as neither team was able to capitalize on any scoring opportunities.

Ferris State's Nichole Boehnke scored the only goal of the match at the 60:07 mark, giving the Bulldogs the 1-0 lead and eventual win.

The Cards were out-shot 24-9 in the game.  Sophomore Kailey Naumcheff (Grand Rapids, Mich./Catholic Central) stopped 12-of-13 shots she faced on goal for Saginaw Valley.

SVSU falls to 3-4-1 overall on the season and 1-3 in conference play.  The Bulldogs improved to 4-4-1 in 2013 overall and 2-2 in league play after the win.  The Cards host Ashland (10/4) and Ohio Dominican (10/6) this upcoming weekend in another pair of GLIAC matches that begin at 2 pm and noon, respectively.
