UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Lady Cardinal soccer team hosted the Ferris State University Bulldogs on the back-end of a two game home weekend for the Cardinals. The Bulldogs escaped town with a victory, as Saginaw Valley lost its second-consecutive match by a score of 1-0.
The first half saw no action as far as goal-scoring was concerned, as neither team was able to capitalize on any scoring opportunities.
Ferris State's Nichole Boehnke scored the only goal of the match at the 60:07 mark, giving the Bulldogs the 1-0 lead and eventual win.
The Cards were out-shot 24-9 in the game. Sophomore Kailey Naumcheff (Grand Rapids, Mich./Catholic Central) stopped 12-of-13 shots she faced on goal for Saginaw Valley.
SVSU falls to 3-4-1 overall on the season and 1-3 in conference play. The Bulldogs improved to 4-4-1 in 2013 overall and 2-2 in league play after the win. The Cards host Ashland (10/4) and Ohio Dominican (10/6) this upcoming weekend in another pair of GLIAC matches that begin at 2 pm and noon, respectively.
