Lady Cardinals Fall 2-1 in Double Overtime to Dragons

TIFFIN, Ohio - The Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer team fell 2-1 in double overtime to Tiffin University today (Oct. 28).

The Cardinals opened the scoring in the 41st minute when Andrea Grove (Farmington, Mich.) found the back of the net off a pass from Charley Porter (Midland, Mich.) for her first goal of the season. The assist was Porter's GLIAC-leading 10th of the season.

Tiffin came out of the intermission firing on all cylinders as they tied up the match at just six minutes into the second half with an exceptional crossing pass inside the box.

Both teams were unable to capitalize on opportunities in regulation as the contest headed into a pair of overtime sessions. The Dragons put the game away with a score in the 103rd minute of double OT for the 2-1 victory.

The Cardinals finish the conference schedule with a record of 8-2-3 and will be the No. 3 seed in the GLIAC Tournament.

Saginaw Valley will return to action on Tuesday (Oct. 30) when they host No. 6 seeded Ohio Dominican in the quarterfinal round of the 2012 GLIAC Women's Soccer Tournament at 2PM.
